Jean Gabriel Peres Biography
Since the middle of 1999 Jean Gabriel Pérès has been the President & CEO of Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts. Supported by a talented team of executives, Jean Gabriel Pérès plans to extend the MH&R portfolio to 100 hotels worldwide by 2010 while continuing to increase the EBIT level of the company. Since his appointment at the helm of MH&R 30 new four and five star hotels have been signed in Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Asia restoring the competitiveness of the company within the upscale hotel segment.
- Born in Paris in 1957, M.B.A. from the renowned French business school, ESSEC.
- 1982: after 2 years serving as a naval officer he joined the Matra Lagardere group as a sales engineer and concluded partnerships with several American and Middle Eastern groups.
- 1985: hired by Meridien Hotels & Resorts, then a subsidiary of Air France.
- As Vice President of development for Africa and Middle East he contributed substantially to the growth of this group and honed his negotiating skills and international experience signing new management contracts for the four star hotel chain.
- 1989: Aged 32, appointed managing director of Le Meridien Hotels & Resorts, Asia Pacific, and made a member of the executive committee of the international Meridien Group.
- Responsible for the acquisition of 18 Meridien hotel contracts in the Asia-Pacific region. When he left Meridien following the acquisition of Forte by Granada, the Asia-Pacific region counted 24 hotels and ranked as one of the most profitable regions of the group.
- 1996 - 1999: Managing Director of a leading sales and distribution company for luxury products in the fashion, perfume and tobacco sectors with branches in 13 Asian countries.
Jean Gabriel Pérès is married and the father of four children. His interests include music, tennis and sailing.
