President's Message

Thank you for visiting the ISHC Website.

I am pleased to serve as the President of the International Society of Hospitality Consultants for 2007-2008.

This year we hope to advance initiatives to bolster membership, organize the CapEx 2010 program, and develop signature programs, like the ISHC Top 10, that support our position as a preeminent hospitality consulting organization in the world.

The ISHC is a professional society comprising 200 of the leading hospitality consultants in the world. Membership is by invitation only and candidates must be nominated by a member in good standing, have the endorsement of three active members, be recommended for membership by the Board of Directors, and be voted in by the membership at large. The rigorous membership process ensures that consultants are highly qualified in their area of specialty and member clients receive the finest advice and services available in the marketplace.

Our members work individually and as collaborating teams to provide a range of services from basic consulting, market studies, and appraisals to complex development and highly specialized technical hotel services. Whether your needs are large or small, the ISHC can provide a comprehensive solution.

In addition to providing an industry standard of quality for its membership, ISHC is proud to have on-going strategic relationships with the AH&LA, the Hotel Sales & Marketing International, the Hotel Asset Managers Association (HAMA), the Cornell Center for Hospitality Research, and several other professional organizations. Our members actively participate in every significant industry event and conference.

Other industry support includes the ISHC Pioneer Award, the Speakers Bureau, ISHC Scholarship program, and individual member research and publishing.

Leadership

ISHC is governed by a board of directors, elected from among the general membership. The day to day affairs of the organization are managed by the Executive Director of ISHC.

Membership Expertise

Collectively ISHC members have experience in over 40 different areas of expertise. These specialties include appraisals, arbitration, architectural and engineering services, asset management, construction and project management, feasibility, executive search, food service, franchise expertise, legal services, operational reviews, marketing and sales, organizational development, research training, strategic planning and technology. Speakers Bureau

ISHC's Speakers Bureau consists of a pool of its members who are available to speak at industry conferences and other events. Potential clients can review a comprehensive selection of topics and a list of the members available to speak on them.

Industry Leadership Positions

ISHC members hold leadership positions in many other professional and industry trade organizations, and collectively represent membership in over 50 related industry professional organizations.

ISHC members have authored and/or co-authored numerous texts and investment books widely utilized in the hospitality industry, and member articles are frequently published in prominent industry and related industry publications.

ISHC Pioneer Award

The Pioneer Award – U.S. was established in 1996 by ISHC to recognize individuals making an outstanding contribution, achievement and or improvement in the hospitality industry. The award is presented each year at the Americas Lodging Investment Conference.

In 2003, the inaugural Pioneer Award – Europe was presented at the International Hotel Investment Forum in Berlin.

ISHC Pioneer Award winners are selected based on three award criteria: active involvement in the industry; their contribution to the industry and personal/organizational attributes and qualities.

ISHC Friends of the Society Program

Each year ISHC invites a select group of companies to participate in the International Society of Hospitality Consultants Friends of the Society Program.

The ISHC Friends of the Society Program was developed in 1998 to provide an opportunity for select companies to interact with ISHC, to potentially participate in special research projects and to attend ISHC conferences and events which are normally open to members only.
