The conference planning committee requests the honor of your presence at the ISHC 2006 Conference October 26-29!

The conference is being held at the award winning Loews Miami Beach Hotel, located in the heart of South Beach and just a few hundred yards from the Atlantic Ocean. The hotel is also just a short walk to the Lincoln Road pedestrian walkway with many wonderful shops, restaurants and galleries.

Tom Morone, conference chair, along with the conference planning team have organized what promises to be an outstanding program entitled "Hurtling through the 21st Century...".

Following we would like to share some of the conference highlights with you!

Thursday October 26, 2006

The ISHC Membership Meeting is scheduled for Thursday afternoon, October 26, 2006, from 1:00-3:00 PM.

The formal conference program will begin immediately following the ISHC membership meeting with a special "Hurtling Through the 21st Century..." keynote presentation.

Thursday afternoon we also have an excellent "What the “Future Has to Do With You!" sound bite session planned. During this session several ISHC members including Scott Steilen, Jill Cole and John Burns will share their ideas of what the future holds for their specialty area. Sound bite topics will include alternative lodging products, human resources on the road ahead, product innovations, global tourism trends, the Internet and waterparks.

The social committee---special thanks to Patty Monteson and Linda Bruno--- has also been hard at work and we have a delightful evening planned. We will be hosting an upscale "Seaside Barbecue" alfresco on the outdoor lawn terrace at the Loews Miami Beach Hotel—just a stone’s throw from Miami Beach.

Friday October 27, 2006

The program on Friday will begin with a special "Aligning Your Consulting Practice to the 21st Century" roundtable session. Several ISHC members—including Bruce Baltin, Peggy Berg, David Berins, David Brudney, Drew Dimond, Bill Dover, Angelos Loizou, Jim O'Connell, Bob Puccini, Rachel Roginsky and Joe Toy---will be heading up the roundtable discussions.

The morning programming will conclude with an innovative and most informative session organized by Alan Benjamin on "Developing Hotels for the 21st Century".

And we are delighted to announce that Jonathan Tisch, CEO and Chairman of Loews Hotels and the Honorable Neisen Kasdin, Esq. and former mayor of Miami Beach, Florida will be joining us as a special guest luncheon speakers.

Back by popular demand, following lunch on Friday, we have scheduled a series of excellent breakout roundtable discussion sessions covering topics/issues of special interest to ISHC members. Each ISHC member will have an opportunity to attend three of the following sessions:
  • "Technology" – Bonnie Buckhiester and Jon Inge
  • "Going Green—There's Gold in Green"- Kit Riley
  • "Toward Wellness. It’s Not Just a Spa Anymore" – Peter Anderson and Patty Monteson
  • "ADR and You" – Maurice Robinson
  • "Condo-Hotels" – Richard Ross
  • "Asset Management Trends in the United States and Abroad" – Wayne Williams
  • "Franchise and Management Contract Strategies in a Three Competitor World" – Rick Kirkbride and Rich Warnick
  • "H5N1- Avian Flu and Disaster Preparedness"- Bruce Goodwin
  • "Strategy for Actively Developing/Positioning ISHC in EMEA"- Christophe de Bruyn and Bernard Delomenie
These sessions promise to be a terrific educational and idea/exchange opportunity!

Also on Friday afternoon we be conducting a "live" ISHC Top Ten Global Issues strategy session utilizing IntelliMeet---a cutting edge electronic meeting/survey system.

Our thanks to Jim Burba and Kevin Holt, founders of BHN/IntelliMeet for the very special opportunity to utilize IntelliMeet and for sponsoring and helping organize this session.

And thank you also to Bonnie Buckheister, Sean Hennessey and Rachel Roginsky and the top ten team for all of their great help coordinating the Top Ten session.

Friday evening—special thanks to Rick Besse and Hank Jones—members will have the option of participating in a "South Beach Crawl"! And/or for those member that would prefer to be "on their own" Friday evening please note that we have set up a link to the Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau as well as links to other sources of local information of interest on the ISHC web site under Virtual Concierge in the on –line conference registration section.

Saturday October 28, 2006

We will be starting the program at 8:30 AM and expect to finish up by 12:30 PM to allow time for site seeing in Miami or just relaxing at the beach!!

We have a terrific program planned for Saturday morning, including a "Global Hotel Industry Performance" update by Randy Smith; followed with an update on the ISHC CapEx 2007 Research project by Jon Nehmer and Alan Benjamin co-chairs of the project. The programming will conclude with a "Global Perspectives: Caribbean and Latin America" panel moderated by Scott Berman.

Saturday evening we have a wonderful "Skyline Dinner Cruise" event planned aboard the luxurious Biscayne Lady --Miami Beach's premier private charter yacht. From the "red carpet" captain’s welcome to the award winning cuisine-- along with having one South Beach's finest DJ's on board---it promises to be a memorable evening!

Registration Highlights

A. Member Registration

Registration is available on line on the ISHC web site at www.ishc.org/AM06/.

Or if you prefer to register by fax or regular mail, please complete the attached registration form and return it via fax to the attention of Elizabeth Hawkins at 1-703-684-6048 or forward it via regular mail to ISHC, 515 King Street, Suite 420, Alexandria, VA 22314.

Just a reminder!..Register by August 18, 2006 and take advantage of the special $100 early registration discount (i.e. Early registration fee of $895 if received by August 18th, thereafter $995.)

Please note that all registrations are due by September 30, 2006. Cancellations must also be received by this date to receive a refund (less a $50 processing fee). Cancellations received after September 30, 2006 are NON REFUNDABLE.

B. Spouse/Guest Registration Program

The Spouse/Guest registration fee including the welcome reception and special Saturday evening event is $250.00

Hotel Accommodations

A block of rooms has been set aside for conference attendees at the Loews Miami Beach Hotel, the host hotel for the conference. We would very much appreciate your staying at the host hotel to insure that we meet our minimum room block guarantee commitment. Thank you!

To make a reservation, please call the hotel reservations department at 1-877-563-9762. When making your reservation, please be sure to mention that you are with the ISHC group to receive our special room rate of $219/night USD for single and $229 USD double occupancy.

Reservations will be accepted by the hotel until the ISHC room block is full or September 15thth, whichever comes first.

Please note that the hotel has a 72 hour cancellation policy and also a $50 early departure fee/charge. Additional information on the Loews Miami Beach Hotel along with hotel deposit, cancellation and early departure policies is available on the hotel web site.

Attire

Conference program – business casual

Welcome Reception – "Seaside Sunset Barbecue"- upscale casual attire (please note the event is scheduled to be held on the outdoor lawn terrace at the Loews Miami Beach Hotel – and in October the weather may be a bit cool in the evening).

Saturday night event "Skyline Dinner Cruise" - "Captain's table cocktail attire" — the event is scheduled to be held aboard the luxurious Biscayne Lady – Miami Beach's premier private charter yacht.
